Part 2: An exercise to help you find your calling!

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.- Steve Jobs

Are you in the right place?

This is part 2 of a task aimed to help you to find your place in life, to find your calling, your vocation.

Part 1 can be found here.

New here? I suggest you to start with part 1 of this tutorial! There you’ll find additional notes and information that might be useful for you.

I’m sure you know them too, those people who simply seem to be in the right place? Work doesn’t appear to feel like work to them, they are almost invariably content, full of energy, meaning and happiness. They have that twinkle in their eye, which is reserved for those who have found their place.

Do you too want this twinkle in your eye? Here comes part 2 to find it!

How it works:

  • Print out this article with the questions below.
  • Answer each of these questions as honestly and spontaneously as possible. Feel deep within you. Write down your answers.
  • Some questions are very intense, maybe you have never asked yourself such questions before. Take the time that you need.
  • When you’re finished, use the last question for yourself to record your initial findings. Do you see a common thread in your answers? Remember to consider your answers of part 1 here as well. Do words, answers repeat themselves? Perhaps your sparkle lies there. It’s definitely within you!

Ask yourself…

  • If you could achieve something in your life, that you enjoy most, what would it be?

  • What do you NOT do often enough in your free time - even if you never have so much fun doing anything else?

  • If you could wake up in the morning and all your worries had disappeared overnight, how would you recognize it? What would be different? And what would you do first?

  • What was the biggest compliment you ever received?

  • What do other people appreciate in you? What do they think you are good at? What do these people ask you again and again, because they know you can give the best advise?

  • In which moments / situations do you totally shine?

  • What kind of recent compliment did you value and remember most?

  • When you are alone, what do you love to do?

  • ...collect your findings here...

And now it’s your turn:

Allow the things that feel good in your life to have more room. This is the first step to finding your own glitter!

Yes, maybe you need to change, let go (article “letting go”), set new goals and focus. Yes, life is happening now. But it is worthwhile to think about tomorrow and the day after that as well. You are sitting in the driver’s seat in your bus of life (article “bus of life”), right?

Did this exercise help you? I would love to see your comments and experiences below.

Do you know other people that are also searching for their vocation? Please feel free to distribute this article. The more people read it, the more people get the chance to look within and find their own glitter. Wouldn’t that be brilliant?
